Video Shooting Process in Nepal: How Professional Reels Are Actually Made

Most people see the final reel. The 30-second video which stops the scroll, builds trust instantly and makes one want to buy. What they do not know is that there was 6 to 8 hours of planning, preparation and craft that went into making those 30 seconds appear effortless.

The question we are posed on a daily basis: how does Ektukra create a video? What occurs between the initial call and the ultimate delivery? We decided to put it down, in short, as we would tell a friend who is sitting across the table.

This is the whole video shooting process of Ektukra, beginning with the time you call us to the time your reel is on air.

First Things First: We Talk Before We Shoot Anything

The video shooting process of Ektukra does not start with cameras or lights. It begins with a dialogue.

There are numerous video crews that will take your money, come and shoot some video, edit it and hand it back to you. We do not work like that. Before we ever touch a camera we must know your business. Not only what you are selling, but who is buying it, why they are buying it, and what would make them stop scrolling to listen to you.

When you contact us via our site at reels.ektukra.com or via WhatsApp, we will ask you some simple questions:

  • What is your business and what do you sell or offer?
  • Who do you most want to watch this video?
  • What would you like them to do after viewing it?
  • Where is this reel going to reside, be it an Instagram post, a Meta ad, a WhatsApp status, or a YouTube Short?

Script Writing: Where the Reel Is Actually Born

This is what most people are not aware of. It is in script writing that the quality of your reel is determined and not in the shoot. A well-written video shot on a phone will always perform better than a perfectly shot video with a weak script.

This is why script writing is one of the most important parts of the video shooting process of Ektukra, and we take it seriously.

How We Structure Every Script

Every reel we write is built around three parts:

The Hook

It includes the initial two to three seconds. This is the only section of the video that really counts in the start, since unless we halt the scroll at this point, the viewer is lost. We write hooks depending on what your particular audience is most interested in. It is a startling assertion at times. It is even a bold visual act. It is a question that can be a real pain point.

The Message

The middle section is the Message where we introduce your product, service or story. We maintain the language plain and straightforward, the type of language a real person would actually speak instead of a brochure. No business padding, no stuffed sentences.

The Call to Action

It informs the viewer of what to do next. Go to the store, place an order, send a text, dial a phone number. Each video has a single obvious next step since providing people with too many choices is the same as providing them with none.

Visual Planning Alongside the Script

While writing the script, we also plan the entire visual language of the video:

  • The shot list of all the scenes we require and in sequence.
  • The atmosphere and the tone, be it cozy and personal to a restaurant, minimal and clean to a product brand, or high-energy and bold to a fashion label.
  • Music direction depending on the emotional feeling we desire the reel to produce.
  • The presence or absence of on-camera talent in the video and the kind of individual to fit the brand.

We tell you all this before anything is booked. You read it, provide your feedback, and we make changes until you are confident. We will not begin shooting until you are happy with the creative direction.

Pre-Production: The Stage That Makes or Breaks Your Shoot Day

Pre-production is the part of the video shooting process of Ektukra that clients rarely see but always benefit from. It is everything that happens between approving the script and showing up on shoot day.

Location Scouting and Assessment

Every shooting location gets evaluated before we commit to it. We look at several things:

  • The lighting situation at the exact moment of the day we intend to shoot, since natural light varies radically and bad light destroys shots in a manner that cannot always be corrected in post-production.
  • Space and composition means, is there sufficient space to place equipment in place and produce clean and uncluttered frames.
  • Sound quality, since traffic noise, air conditioning hum, or construction near the building can ruin clean audio.
  • Access to power of shoots that need lighting rigs or charging systems.

For businesses with their own premises like restaurants, hotels, salons, and retail stores, we typically shoot on location. For product-focused shoots or concept-based videos, we may work in a controlled studio environment where we have complete control over lighting and background.

Equipment Check and Preparation

Every piece of equipment gets tested and packed the night before a shoot. Here is what we bring to a standard reel production:

Camera and Lenses

  • A professional cinema or mirrorless body with 4K shooting.
  • Wide-angle lens to set-up shots and setting.
  • Close-up product shots and portrait-style subject framing prime lens.
  • Telephoto lens to capture candid, documentary shots.

Lighting

  • Clean indoor LED panel lights.
  • Flattering softboxes and diffusers to create an even, light on faces and products.
  • Outdoor or mixed-light reflectors.
  • Brand-specific color accent lights on set.

Audio

  • Lavalier microphone attached to the subject to record clean voice.
  • Directional ambient sound shotgun microphone.
  • Backup and clean isolation audio recorder.

Stabilization and Movement

  • Gimbal to allow smooth tracking shots and cinematic walkthroughs.
  • Tripod to use with still, fixed shots.
  • Horizontal slow movement and product reveal slider.

Monitoring

  • External monitor to allow the director to view framing, focus, and exposure in real time instead of straining his eyes on a small camera monitor.

Nothing gets discovered as a problem on set. That is the whole point of pre-production.

Shoot Day: Efficient, Purposeful, and Respectful of Your Time

The shoot day portion of the video shooting process of Ektukra runs on a clear structure. We respect that you have a business to run, and we do not spend your shoot day reorganizing our bags or trying to figure out the plan.

How a Typical Shoot Day Unfolds

  1. Arrival and Setup (30 to 60 minutes): We show up earlier than the scheduled start time, install lights, perform audio checks, perform a brief frame test, and go through the shot list with whoever is on set on your side.
  2. Principal Shooting (2 to 5 hours depending on scope): We work through the shot list with intent. In the case of product reels, this consists of detail shots, context shots and motion sequences. In the case of founder or testimonial videos, we make the subject feel comfortable and talk instead of reading off paper, since natural conversation is the only way to be authentic on camera and the viewers can sense the difference. In the case of event shoots, we operate in a documentary mode, being responsive to real moments and achieving our visual priorities.
  3. B-Roll Collection (1 to 2 hours): B-roll is the supplemental footage that gives a reel a richness, not a thinness. Working hands, steam on a plate, cloth on a model, a group of people laughing. The difference between a refined reel and a simple clip is good b-roll.
  4. On-Site Review Prior to Wrapping: We go through the shot list before we pack down. When we miss something or we find an opportunity of one better angle, we take it before we go. We would also prefer to spend 10 more minutes on set than find a hole in the edit the following day.

Post-Production: Where Raw Footage Becomes a Finished Reel

This is where the video shooting process of Ektukra moves into its final phase.

Editing

We cut according to the script structure and shot list from pre-production. Every edit decision has a reason. We cut to music, we build visual rhythm, and we trim anything that slows the pace without serving the message.

Color Grading

Every reel we deliver is color graded. Food reels get warm, rich, craveable tones. Fashion reels get sharp contrast and clean brightness. Hotel and hospitality reels get golden, comfortable warmth. Color grading is one of the biggest visual differences between a professional reel and a phone video, and it is something we never skip.

Sound Design and Music

We balance the audio mix so that voice, music, and ambient sound all sit in the right place. We also add subtle sound design where it helps, such as a sizzle sound under a food shot or a soft product reveal sound. Most social media video is watched on mute, so we add on-screen captions and text so your message lands regardless of whether the sound is on.

Final Review, Revisions, and Delivery

When the first cut is ready, we send it to you for review. Every project includes two rounds of revisions, which is enough for nearly every project we have ever worked on. After your final approval, we deliver the reel in every format you need:

  1. Vertical 9:16 for Instagram Reels, Facebook Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts
  2. Square 1:1 for Instagram feed and Facebook feed
  3. Horizontal 16:9 for YouTube, website embedding, or presentation use
  4. Ad-optimized version with a clean end card for paid campaign use
